Scales Travels to Italy for Music Festival

CANYON, Texas—Dr. Nicholas Scales, assistant professor of music at West Texas A&M University, is spending part of July overseas as an invited guest artist at the Orfeo Music Festival July 6-23 in the small alpine town of Vipiteno, Italy.

The Orfeo Music Festival is a three-week summer music program and concert series. The program features an impressive list of international classical voice and instrumental performers with classes taught by artists in residence and guest artists. Students get the opportunity to study, learn and perform with some of the best musicians in the world. The festival offers seven performance venues with 35-40 guest artists and approximately 110 students.

Scales is teaching a masterclass in double bass during the festival and will perform in two chamber music concerts and two orchestra concerts.
