Guaranteed Tuition

Financing a college education can be a challenge for many families, but officials at West Texas A&M University have a plan that will ease those budget woes while offering a built-in incentive for students to finish their degrees on time.

WTAMU is implementing a guaranteed tuition plan for fall 2014. It’s a plan that, depending on the number of semester hours earned, locks in a tuition rate for the rest of a student’s education as long as that student graduates on time. And knowing that locked-in rate offers students and parents an amazing tool in planning for college. Families can plan with confidence on yearly college expenses knowing that tuition paid the first year will remain the same through the senior year. Plus, the guaranteed tuition plan is an incentive for students to graduate on time to save money.

Current students, graduate students, transfer students as well as out-of-state and border students get the same tuition perk, too. Incoming freshman will be on the four-year plan while others, depending on the number of credit hours earned, will be on either the three-year plan (30-59 hours), two-year plan (60-89 hours) or one-year plan (more than 89 hours). Locked-in rates for the 2014-2015 academic year will be based on a 2.2 percent inflation rate—one of the lowest in the state compared to other universities—and will be guaranteed for four years.
