WTAMU Students Elected to Top Positions in State Collegiate FFA

CANYON, Texas—West Texas A&M University students represented their University and their Collegiate FFA chapter very well by competing in various events and obtaining state offices at this year’s Texas Collegiate FFA  (CFFA) State Convention July 9-10 in Corpus Christi.

Shelbie Belott, a junior agriculture education major from Canyon, was reelected as president, Bryce Barnett, a junior agriculture education major from Lometa, was elected to serve as vice president and Estevan Garcia, a junior agriculture education major from Bosque Farms, N.M., was elected to serve as secretary for the 2012 -2013 term. Belott served as president during the 2011-2012 term.

The first day of the CFFA convention was built around competition for the CFFA members.  WTAMU students competed in job interview, prepared public speaking, extemporaneous speaking, research poster, lesson plan, quiz bowl and chapter presentation. Students who placed in the career development events are listed by hometown, classification, major, placement and area of competition.
