Open House Planned for Named Classroom at WTAMU
CANYON, Texas—Officials at West Texas A&M University will mark the completion of the Great Plains Ag Credit Classroom with an open house from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, April 25 in the Agriculture and Natural Science Building, Room 201.
Great Plains Ag Credit (GPAC) pledged $35,000 to name the standard classroom the Great Plains Ag Credit Endowed Classroom. The pledge is part of the University’s Share Your Pride comprehensive campaign. Room 201 now has upgraded features throughout, including tables and chairs, carpeting and detailed crown molding. An added bonus is memorabilia-filled shadow boxes depicting the farming and ranching heritage of the Texas Panhandle. The classroom is used primarily for agribusiness courses.
GPAC, a longtime supporter of WTAMU, serves the agricultural credit and crop insurance needs of a 20-county area in the Texas Panhandle. In addition to the naming of a classroom, the company also has established scholarships for students and employed many WTAMU graduates through the years.
“We consider WT to be a great partner with Great Plains Ag Credit,” Tim McDonald, GPAC president and WTAMU alumus, said. “This classroom is a way for us to give back to the ag community with a learning environment that is good for the students and helps them recognize what we do. It’s a win-win for the University, the students and for Great Plains Ag Credit.”
The pledge makes GPAC eligible for induction into the University’s Old Main Society.
