Stuntz Named President of H-Net
CANYON, Texas—Dr. Jean Stuntz, professor of history at West Texas A&M University, has been named president of H-Net: Humanities of Social Services Online for 2014. Stuntz has been a member since 1994, served on the executive council since 2005 and previously served as president of H-Net in 2010.
H-Net is an international consortium of more than 100,000 members in over 90 countries developed to advance teaching and research in the arts, humanities and social sciences. H-Net hosts a discussion listserv and repository of free content for educational use.
“H-Net hosts great discussion threads on a multitude of topics used by thousands of scholars every month in their research,” Stuntz said. “I am delighted to be serving this great organization.”
Stuntz was instrumental in moving H-Net forward from email lists to the content repository. As president, Stuntz chairs the executive council and leads the discussions over policy and developing issues. In her presidential role, Stuntz will chair quarterly business meetings and attend conferences to promote H-Net’s services.
Stuntz is active in discipline-specific organizations as well, serving on the board of directors for the West Texas Historical Association and currently on the board of directors of the Texas State Historical Association. Locally, she is finishing her second term on the board of trustees for The Children’s Home in Amarillo and is on the board of directors for the Canyon Lions Club.
