Selection Process Timeline
Only qualified candidates will participate in the interview process. Candidates will be contacted via WTAMU email or telephone regarding interview times and locations.
*NOTE: Not all candidates will receive an interview.
- January 16th – Community Advisor (CA) Application Goes Live at 8:00am
- January 23rd- CA Information Session at noon Senate Chamber
- Residential Living Staff will explain the Community Advisor position (lunch provided)
- January 24th: CA Information Session 6:00pm in Centennial Hall
- January 30th: CA Information Session 6:00pm in Jarrett Hall
- February 1st: CA Application Closes 5:00pm (all paperwork must be submitted)
- This includes the Handshake application, the Qualtrics Residential Living application, and the Qualtrics reference forms
- February 1st: CA Interview Prep Session 7:00pm in Centennial Hall
- Residential Living Staff will explain the interview process and give student information on what to expect during interview weekend
- February 8th: CA Interview Prep Session 7:00pm in Jarrett Hall
- February 16th-17th: CA Interview Weekend in the Alumni Banquet Hall- Qualified applicants will be scheduled for an interview. Applicants must participate in both group and individual interviews to be considered for a CA position
- 16th - Group interviews
- 17th - Individual interviews
- March 6th: Decision letters will be sent to candidates' WT student email
- March 29th: Selected candidates must submit their Accept/Decline paperwork by 4:59 p.m.
- August 5th – 21st: Tentative: Community Advisor Training
Position Summary
Working in a team environment, you will guide and develop students throughout their college experience and serve as a role model in a variety of environments. Your team will be supervised by a Residence Hall Director/Area Coordinator who will provide training and professional development. Your primary responsibility is to create and build a community of students focused on cultivating a sense of belonging and their personal growth; while maintaining health and safety.
Compensation
- Private room (when available) at no cost
- Semesters served as a Community Advisor will not count toward the total semesters needed to qualify for the Housing Incentive
- Applicable meal plan at no cost
- Monthly stipend of $80.00
Duties and Responsibilities
-Community development through interpersonal relationships.
-Design and implement social and educational activities.
-Utilize the training you will receive to refer students to appropriate campus and community resources
- Document potential health and safety concerns
- Serve in an on-call rotation; which includes nights/weekends/holidays/University break periods
- Support students through crisis situations in collaboration with your team
- Understand and enforce University rules and regulations
-Maintain confidentiality and remain in compliance with University and state/federal policy
-Staff your building's front desk and provide customer service
-Assist students with reporting maintenance concerns
-Attend and assist with University and Residential Living events
- Fall and Spring training
- Move-in and Move-out
- Staff interview processes
- Weekly staff meetings and meetings with your supervisor
- Other events as specified
-Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- Be a full-time West Texas A&M University student in good standing
- Possess and maintain a semester and cumulative 2.5 GPA
- Attend mandatory trainings
