Professional Profile
Dr. Wu joined the College of Engineering in 2017. He received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics from Jilin University in 1996, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001 and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007, respectively.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Wu teaches primarily in mathematics such as Calculus and statistics, including advanced topic courses for graduates. He is also the instructor for Discrete Structure I and Discrete Structure II for engineering and computer science majors. He has coauthored several publications and has made numerous presentations as an invited speaker, both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Wu is a member of the American Mathematical Society, Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the American Association of Educators.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Wu's research interests include algorithmic number theory and algebraic number theory, especially the theory of function fields, and general algebra. He has supervised dozens of undergraduate research project/senior investigation projects, among which several already produced refereed journal publications.
